I’m Ronnie Pereira
Humanist Counsellor MBACP (Accred)
Welcome to my Counselling Service
I am an integrative counsellor committed to helping my clients in the therapeutic process through such approaches as cognitive behavioural therapy, person-centred therapy and transpersonal therapy.
I aim toward a holistic approach to healing, which harmonises the body, mind, emotion and spirit. I can help you on your journey to become a new you, through self-discovery. I welcome everyone regardless of their religion or beliefs. Spirituality is not about religion, it is about accessing the higher truth within yourself and discovering who you really are.
Learning how to tune into yourself, listen to and trust in your own intuition can help you to heal both in the present and the future. My goal is to help you live in the present, practice compassion and learn to forgive both yourself and others.
Build YOUR Self Esteem
I strive to be an empowering therapist, walking alongside you as you develop self-esteem

About Me
I’m Ronnie. Originally from Brazil, I moved to the United Kingdom some twenty years ago. I was motivated to enter a new field of work within the health and social care sector. In more than fifteen years working within the adult, elderly and mental health client groups, I enhanced and consolidated my relationship skills, which made me more aware of my inherent personality traits such as empathy and genuineness.
After this, I embarked on my studies in counselling. I have worked within organisations such as the Waterloo Community Center (providing one-to-one counselling, both in English and Portuguese and The Bariatric Center based near Dartford. The Bariatric Center is a weight management center, where I provided cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) counselling as part of a multidisciplinary team including dietary and physical well-being practitioners.
I am a qualified and accredited Humanist Counsellor. I am an empathic communicator and an attentive listener. I am caring, patient and friendly. I get great satisfaction from helping people find their way to resolving the problems and issues that they face.
I am non-judgmental and warm and compassionate in my approach to helping people with whatever issues they are facing. I take a person-centered humanistic approach to counselling, based on mutual respect, empathy, validation and understanding. I have always been enthusiastic, adaptable, dedicated and open when striving to improve myself both in my personal and in my professional life.

I also strive to be an empowering therapist, walking alongside you as you develop self-esteem, self-compassion and the coping strategies required to face the challenges life throws at you. I also offer therapeutic sessions in both English and Portuguese and my clinical work is regularly supervised by an accredited practitioner.
Over fifteen years working within the adult, elderly and mental health client groups, I know that many older people feel lonely and isolated due to their lack of social networking. If you are feeling lonely, I can encourage you to reach out for help and to stay connected or even forge new connections.
I will work with you to assuage your fears of change related to ageing. Whether it is anxiety, depression or behavioral concerns, it is never too late to begin to deal with these issues.
A combination of stress late in life can bring up problems that I can help you to resolve. Do not bottle things up and do not be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
Laughter plays a wonderful role in helping older people with their problems through reminiscence therapy.

My Philosophy of Counselling
My approach is guided by a belief that people have an innate drive towards happiness and an intuitive, unconscious sense of how to make this happen. Through transpersonal therapy, I take a holistic approach to healing, attempting to harmonise the body, mind, emotion and spirit.
I usually adapt my counselling to each individual’s specific challenges, goals, personality and past efforts towards healing and growth, creating an integrative framework in which to work.
The greater part of my contribution to the therapeutic process is to provide a dedicated space and relational experience, helping to bring out each client’s inner strength and their ability to find their own solution to their problems. I have a fairly interactive style, being directive when helpful but experienced enough to know when to stay out of the way.
“When you laugh, your mind, body, and spirit change.”
Mark Twain
Laughter reduces stress, depression, anxiety and fear. Laughter is a very powerful medicine and is an excellent way to reduce stress in our lives. It can help you to cope with and survive a stressful lifestyle.
As an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am able to work to required professional standards and am regularly expected to demonstrate this within the ethical framework of good practice BACP sets out. It protects both the clients and counsellors alike and compounds principles and personal moral qualities for counsellors to work to, in order to achieve the highest standard of counselling for clients.
Please feel free to express your personal concerns when writing for an appointment, so I can learn more about yourself, and how I can help you.
